I can’t believe were already at the end of October and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! This is about the time of year that I really start thinking about how I’ll be decorating for the holiday season. When do you start thinking thinking about your Christmas decor? It may seem early to some but I promise if you plan now you’ll be so glad you did come December. Each year I try to make any decor ahead of time so that I have plenty of time to enjoy it. I’m really thrilled with the project I have for you guys today! It’s a simple and easy DIY gingerbread house wreath and the best part, you can find everything you need at Hobby Lobby<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It can be quite the task to go in for only a couple items this time of year.\u00a0Every aisle if packed full of Christmas goodies. My four year old made sure to let me know I was spending too much time looking around, ha! Moms just leave the kiddos with dad at home and grab yourself some coffee! There’s just so many fun things to see and be inspired by.\u00a0I came home with several pretty things this last trip and after a lot of aisle strolling, here’s the wreath I came up with for our breakfast nook.<\/p>\n

DIY Gingerbread House Wreath How-To<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Supplies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

14″ Grapevine wreath<\/p>\n

8 – Spruce stems<\/p>\n

2- Pine stems with mini pine cones<\/p>\n

Floral wire<\/p>\n

Faux spray snow<\/p>\n

2 Bottle brush trees<\/p>\n

1 Ceramic, lighted gingerbread house<\/p>\n

Ribbon of choice<\/p>\n

Tools Needed:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wire cutters for cutting floral wire<\/p>\n

Hot glue gun<\/p>\n

  1. Using your wire cutters take a spruce stem and cut each branch off the main stem. Adding a pine stem as well, group the cut branches. Cut a piece of wire 10″ long and wrap around the stems tightly. Leave a couple inches on each side to attach to the wreath.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2. Place the grouping in an upward position on the wreath and push the wire through to the back of the wreath and twist tight.<\/p>\n

    3. Follow steps 1 and 2 until you make it all the way around your wreath.<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    4. Set up your wreath outside if possible on cardboard or a drop cloth and lightly coat the stems with spray snow. Follow the directions on the can for proper use. I did two light and even coats on my wreath. This is person preference. You could certainly go heavier with the snow or use non at all.<\/p>\n

    5. While the wreath is drying, cut two pieces of floral wire each 12″ long. Insert them into the gingerbread house windows, criss-crossing them with even amount of wire on each side of the house.<\/p>\n

    6. I wanted to make my trees two different sizes to add interest. I simply used wire cutters to cut my bottle brush tree at the desired height. Using a hot glue gun, add a drop of hot glue to the bottom of the tree to prevent it from coming apart further.<\/p>\n

    7. Once your wreath is dry you can attach the house the same way you attached the stems by pushing the wire through the wreath and twisting tight on the other side. Add your trees with just a dab of hot glue to the wreath.<\/p>\n

    8. Last, add your ribbon. I tied mine in just a simple bow. You could also use wired ribbon for a fuller bow.<\/p>\n

    It’s such a fun and elegant touch to our little breakfast nook! I can’t wait until the Christmas season to see that little gingerbread house glow. Isn’t it just the cutest? It’s battery powdered and just has a little switch on the bottom that you can turn on and off from the back of the wreath. I love that the snowy stems really stand out against our dark painted doors. You could also add in some berries that go along with your chosen color scheme for a pop of color!<\/p>\n

    This wreath only took me an afternoon to make. Just put on some hot cocoa and enjoy an afternoon of crafting! Quick projects are my favorite and this one was no exception. There’s so many ways you could use these adorable like gingerbread houses too. I’m already dreaming up ideas and ways to use them around my house this Christmas season.<\/p>\n
