Hi everyone! I can’t believe how long it has taken me to share our DIY faux brick flooring on the blog. I’m really not happy about that. As many of you know, we gave our downstairs powder\/laundry room a makeover<\/a> this past April and I have to admit that doing laundry hasn’t been such a chore anymore. It’s amazing how a pretty space can really lift your spirit! As soon as we went to look at the house for the first time I instantly could see pretty brick flooring in this space. Brick floors are so charming and in keeping with colonial homes. We priced them out and I got pretty discouraged. The price for just this small little space was going to be in the upward of $1000 before it was all said and done. I knew that would be a stretch for us so I decided to check out what else was out there. After looking at so many beautiful options my heart still drifted back to brick. I bucked up and decided no, I was not going to give up on my dream floors. After all, if God doesn’t have other plans in mind we are in this home for the long haul. After weeks of searching and going down the rabbit hole that is Pinterest too many times, I stumbled across the craziest, prettiest, most affordable option ever!<\/p>\n

It’s called Rustico glazed porcelain floor tile<\/a><\/strong>. I’ve only found it in two places. Home Depot<\/a> and as of late Amazon. I came across it by accident one day while looking for another item at Home Depot. The price is a third of real brick. Everyone that has seen our bathroom in person has thought that it was real brick! The color and texture looks and feels like the real thing. Best part, it installs just like basic floor tile.<\/p>\n

DIY Faux Brick Flooring<\/h2>\n

Like I said before, it’s just a basic porcelain tile. We installed the floor in just an evening and I went back two days later and did the grout. Tile is always a great DIY project to try. If you’ve never done it before I would recommend watching a couple how-to videos or try your hand at back splash tile first. You can install the tile in whatever direction you choose. Herringbone is a gorgeous pattern. It will use much more tile though, FYI.<\/p>\n

Look at that gorgeous texture and color! We went with a grout color that was in between white and gray. I wanted a natural grout color that you would see on an old brick building. They turned out petty perfect in my opinion.<\/p>\n

It’s been a few months now and I love them just as much today as the day we installed them! They only ran us a couple hundred dollars unlike real brick at a thousand. It was a huge budget savor and who can tell the difference? I love coming across more affordable options that look like the real thing. If you’ve been dreaming of brick floors, don’t fret. I’ve even mentioned installing this tile in our foyer down the road. It’s so charming I keep looking for places to put it, ha!<\/p>\n
