As I’m sitting here typing it’s raining cats and dogs outside. Georgia may not have actually seen a hurricane but this tropical storm has brought it’s fair share or rain and wind. I’m so thankful we did not see as much damage as predicted but I sure am ready to see the sun again. I had planned on sharing my paint recipes for natural looking pumpkins that are apart of my fall mantel<\/a> but poor lighting makes for poor photos. Instead, I’m going to give you some inspiration on how-to decorate with grocery store flowers in your own home. It’s a topic I’ve been wanting to discuss for a while now. I suppose it all worked out!<\/p>\n

Let me start by asking, what is your go-to decor item? Do you have a favorite something that you fall back on when decorating? I do! Mine is fresh flowers but I’m not talking about those $20 and up bouquets. My go-to is the under $10 flowers at the grocery store. First of all not all grocery stores are the same. I shop Trader Joe’s and I do pop in Publix from time to time. You may have to shop around to find the best flower options at grocers near you.<\/p>\n

Each week I make sure to pick up some fresh flowers. It’s something I look forward to and really enjoy. I don’t do the average Starbucks run so this is my “extra” for the week. Fresh blooms are such a mood lifter for me. They really take an average room and add a little something special.<\/p>\n

I buy what’s in season and pick colors that coordinate with my homes decor. Here are a few of my favorites.<\/p>\n

How-To Decorate with Grocery Store Flowers<\/h2>\n

Hydrangeas – \u00a0$4 to $6 a bundle<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Hydrangeas have always been one of my favorite flowers. We planted a couple in our yard this spring and I can’t wait to be able to bring some of those flowers in doors but for now store bought work great. You get plenty of bang for your buck with these beauties! They typically last a couple weeks in my house and because of their size it doesn’t take many to make a statement. Whether they’re in a tin, bowl or mini vase, they’re a winner.<\/p>\n

2. Roses- $5 to $10 a bundle<\/p>\n

\"Kitchen<\/p>\n

Roses have always been a flower that I thought I could live without. Recently however, I discovered I really do enjoy them. I just add a little green filler or something else to them. This can be eucalyptus or even clippings from your yard. The added greenery made all the difference for me.<\/p>\n

\"Simple<\/p>\n

3. Peonies- $6 a bundle<\/p>\n

\"Summer<\/p>\n

Oh peonies. I just adore them! What makes them even sweeter is their short season. I can’t find them every spring but when I do I stock up. I also have great luck with these keeping as long as the water is changed each day. They have such an amazing fragrance. They’re well worth the long wait.<\/p>\n

4. Eucalyptus- $2.99 a bundle<\/p>\n

This might not be something you’ve thought of picking up at the grocery store but I don’t think I can leave without buying a bundle anymore. It’s not only cheap but so fragrent and that dusty, rustic charm is not only pretty along side some blooms but it stands out all on its own! Bonus- it keeps for weeks at a time. I use it year-round in my decorating.<\/p>\n

\"Effortless<\/p>\n

5. Tulips- $5 to $10 a bundle<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Is there such a thing as spring without tulips? Not in our house! They come in so many beautiful colors that you can incorporate them anywhere. They’re available pretty early in the year here in Georgia and are still available throughout the fall. They’re such a fun and simple touch.<\/p>\n

5. Stock Flowers – $2.99 a bundle<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

These are my favorite cheap flower. They have that charm that looks like something you just cut from your garden and brought in. Like tulips, they come in array of colors. They also have a long cut life too. I always add in a few green clippings from my yard to add some weight and it’s flower perfection!<\/p>\n

6. From Your Own Yard- Free<\/p>\n

If you’re lucky enough to have some flowers growing in your yard you’re all set! We’ve been able to enjoy several flowering bushes in our yard the past year and a half all thanks to the original owners and we’ve added some things this spring and summer that we hope will yield some blooms next year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Do you decorate with fresh blooms? They’re such a great way to add a natural touch to your space. I love a simple home and fresh flowers have been like a breath of fresh air! I don’t think that will ever change. I’m looking forward to the upcoming seasons and to see the foliage change.<\/p>\n
