I can’t believe this day is finally here! There are so many things that I am beyond thankful for today. Our One Room Challenge – laundry\/powder room renovation is complete and today is the launch of our new adventure, Sincerely, Marie. I’m so glad you’re here to help me kick it off! It’s been a lot of hard work but I finally feel like my blog is the perfect expression of myself and our home.<\/p>\n

One Room Challenge – laundry\/powder room renovation<\/h2>\n

I can’t think of a better way to kick off the new blog than with a room makeover! We’re sharing our reveal today!<\/p>\n

It has always been a space that makes me cringe. From the first day we walked into it (picture below) I’ve hated it! It’s right off of our kitchen and is the only bath room on the first floor. It’s the powder room all of our guest use when they visit but it also serves as our laundry room. I’ve never been a fan of the shared space, but I think we’ve found a way to make it work and I’m loving it!<\/p>\n

Here’s another look at the space before we moved in. Other than a very deep cleaning, it still looked close to the same just two months ago.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at it now.<\/p>\n

All of the old wallpaper has been removed and we painted the walls Dove White by Benjamin Moore. We planked the ceiling and painted all the trim a crisp white.<\/p>\n

We installed a porcelain tile<\/a><\/span> that looks and feels just like brick. I love the flooring so much I couldn’t bring myself to put down the rug I had planned on using. I think the flooring is perfect all on its own.<\/p>\n

We built a shaker style cabinet that serves as a utility closet for all of cleaning supplies and extra paper goods.<\/p>\n

This two leg pedestal sink was a Craigslist find and the brass faucet<\/a><\/span> was provided by Wayfair.<\/p>\n

The mirror is an antique mirror that I found at a local antique store. Miraculously, it has never been painted and still has it’s original glass. You can see the little imperfections when you look close. It makes me love that much more. I think it adds the perfect amount of warmth to the room.<\/p>\n

I found all the frames in the room at thrift stores, with the exception of the top one. I just love these beautiful, vintage style prints with their muted colors. The top print is a watercolors by Craftberry Bush<\/a><\/span> and the bottom shoreline print is from The Graphics Fairy<\/a><\/span>. Both are free to download!<\/p>\n

We installed bead board on this back wall and added simple wooden shelves for storage. The cabinet and back wall are painted a color called Jogging Path by Sherwin Williams. It’s a neutral, mushroom like color.<\/p>\n

This room serves not only as a powder room for our guest but as our laundry room as well. We decided to hide the washer and dry with some curtains that I custom sewed from two Ikea Ritva curtain panels<\/a><\/span>. With the two panels I was able to make cafe curtains for the window, a curtain to hide the top control area of the washer and dryer and a lower curtain to side the body of the W&D.<\/p>\n

The brass ceiling light<\/a><\/span> and the sconce<\/a><\/span> are both from Wayfair.com. As soon as I saw them I knew they would both be perfect in this room. The sconce adds some great extra light on evenings when I’m finishing up the laundry.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We used the Dignitet curtain wire<\/a><\/span> from Ikea to hang the curtains around the bottom of the washer and dryer. This allows us to move the curtain back and forth as we need to do laundry.<\/p>\n

We used the Hammarp butcher block<\/a><\/span> from Ikea as the counter top. Josh cut out a portion just big enough to access the lid of the washing machine.<\/p>\n

We used all antique style brass hardware from House of Antique Hardware<\/a> <\/span>on the cabinet. I absolutely love the classic look and feel of it. You can find the pulls here <\/a><\/span>and the butterfly hinges here<\/a><\/span>. They both fit the style of the room perfectly!<\/p>\n

One of my favorite things in the space are these lovely mother of pearl push button knobs from House of Antique Hardware.<\/a><\/span> Although our home did not have them originally, I feel as though they were always meant to be there. You install them just like any other switch. We had them done in less than ten minutes. Not to mention, our four year old always races us to turn the light on first. He might love them more than we do! You can find the push buttons here<\/a><\/span> and the brass plates here<\/a><\/span>. They also have outlet covers to match.<\/p>\n

This was one of the harder renovations we’ve done, mainly due to exhaustion. After a full year and a half of renovations we’re ready for a long break. It feels so good to have this space knocked off of our list. It turned out just how I envisioned it. I may have hated to do laundry before but I suppose it’s not so bad when this is your view.<\/p>\n
