These last two weeks are going to be the busiest! The new electrical has been run and the planked ceiling went in yesterday. Next is the new lighting!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/one-room-challenge-week-1-laundrypowder-room-renovation\/static1-squarespace-com-4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7411\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7411 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/static1.squarespace.com_-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 400px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 400\/400;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I wanted to talk about what&#8217;s happening on the wall of the washer and dryer this weekend. I wanted to create plenty of storage. This room has always held our mops and brooms as well as extra toiletries and household cleaners. This room also serves as our powder room so I want to make sure those items are out of sight. We&#8217;re going to install a floor to ceiling shaker style cabinet beside the washer and dryer. The cabinet will have double doors and plenty of upper shelf space for all those small cleaning items.<\/p>\n<p>Attached to the cabinet will run two floating shelves that hang above the washer and dryer. I&#8217;m really excited about those shelves because they&#8217;ll house not only our detergent jars but also some framed photos and greenery.<\/p>\n<p>I have something I&#8217;m really excited about for the washer and dryer but I think I&#8217;m going to keep it to myself for now&#8230; I hate to do that but it makes the final reveal that much more fun!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/one-room-challenge-week-3-laundrypowder-room-renovation\/ob-snapshot-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7510\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7510 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/OB-snapshot-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"537\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/537;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The wall behind the washer and dryer is getting a fun wall treatment tomorrow. I&#8217;ll share more on that next week. The color I&#8217;ve chosen for the cabinetry is called Cape May Cobblestone by Benjamin Moore. It&#8217;s a soothing neutral that has a very traditional feel.<\/p>\n<p>Flooring update- We&#8217;ve had a set back with the flooring. These things always seem to happen when there&#8217;s a deadline. The flooring that I had chosen is currently unavailable so I&#8217;ve got the task of picking a new floor by the end of the week so that it can be installed next weekend. The flooring will be one of the last things to go into the space. Once that&#8217;s done the sink can be installed and all the finishing touches can be put in place.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a sneak peek of the planked ceiling that went in yesterday. It&#8217;s getting trim and paint today.
