As many of your know, our home has been a construction zone for the last year. We made the decision to put all major room renovations on hold in the month of December so that we could focus on family and friends through the holidays. It was the best decision we could have made. It was so nice to relax and enjoy where we were in our home improvement journey. One room in our house in particular has been in transition for months. That room is the upstairs guest bathroom. It’s not that the upgrades have been difficult but that it gets put on the back burner every time a new project arises. I really do have design ADD friends. We also have a downstairs powder room, so this bathroom doesn’t get used everyday. It’s been easy to forget about really. I wanted to go ahead and show what we’ve done so far in this space. It’s not complete but so much has happened this past year and I think it’s important to point out that everything we’ve done thus far has been really budget-friendly. So if you’re in the mood for some affordable bathroom ideas these might be for you! <\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s what we’ve done so far-<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

We striped that outdated, half fallen wallpaper and actually replaced pa couple pieces of sheet rock. We chose one of my favorite neutrals – Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. I love that it’s neutral yet it’s a calming bluish\/green.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Budget<\/a><\/p>\n

The old, bulky vanity was removed and we just recently finished building this vanity. You can find our free plans<\/span> here<\/a><\/span> to make your own! We made ours out of wood we already had on hand but if you were to buy all the supplies it would cost you less than $100.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course I had to add some kind of vintage touch. I knew right away that I wanted to use black and white hexagon tiles. We removed the old vinyl flooring and replaced it with this porcelain tile from Floor & Decor. It ran use about $3.50 a sq ft.<\/span><\/p>\n

We actually got super lucky and found this brand new Kohler sink at a thrift store. The faucet we purchased new but for only around $100. I love the vintage feel it gives.<\/span><\/p>\n

We’re not completely finished with this space just yet. I’m looking forward to adding some bead board, plank the ceilings and painting the inner window (I had originally decided to leave these all stained in the house but have recently decided against it and have since gone back and painted many of them white). Those things will eventually get done but for now I’m enjoying where we are. It’s a night and day difference from how it looked when we bought the house. I hope to be able to share a completely “finished” space with you something this spring. <\/span><\/p>\n
