A lot of folks are headed back to work for the first day since Christmas break. I&#8217;ll pray your day goes by fast and painless! I had a really fun and yet frustrating weekend. The frustrating part came from my Silhouette Cameo, which I am absolutely in love people. It was a Christmas gift that I have been wanting for some time now, just never wanted to invest the money. I&#8217;ve been trying all kinds of things, some more frustrating to figure out than others. I&#8217;ll be sharing those things with you soon. I also did a really easy build this weekend. I&#8217;ve been making some small adjustments to my mom&#8217;s kitchen this last month. The shelves are just one of them. They were designed by The Shanty-2-Chic sisters. They are very simple to make. This is something you ladies can do on your own. I used 2&#215;3&#8217;s to make the bones of the boxes. I cut 3 pieces at 7.5&#8243; for each shelf and made 1 1\/2&#8243; pocket holes and attached them to the middle and the ends of the 30&#8243; piece with 2 1\/2&#8243; pocket hole screws. I attached the shelves to studs with 3.5&#8243; wood screws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6576.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1224 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6576.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6576\" width=\"630\" height=\"468\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/468;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I glued and nailed in a 1\/4&#8243; smooth plywood piece to the bottom of each shelf. I&#8217;m not a fan of using the table saw by myself so I had Home Depot cut these for me. If you have yours cut at a store make sure you remind the employee to take the blade into account. I of course did not mention it and mine were off by almost 1\/4 of an inch. So he had to re-cut them for me. It was funny that I had to instruct the guy on how to rip the plywood correctly!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6580.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1225 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6580.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6580\" width=\"630\" height=\"476\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/476;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I glued and nailed in a 1&#215;10&#8243; cut to size on top and 1&#215;4&#8243; on each side. It was at this point that I thought I could have used a pallet. If you&#8217;re going for a really rustic shelf it would work great!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6583.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1226 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_6583.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6583\" width=\"630\" height=\"491\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/491;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I measured and cut the last 1&#215;4&#8243;s for the fronts and nailed them in place. I taped off the walls and stained them right in place. It&#8217;s a steal! I&#8217;m absolutely love them and love the storage they provide.
