This coffee table has been around as long as I can remember. It was in my house as a little kid. There&#8217;s nothing particularly special about the table other than the awesome storage that it offers. My mom hadn&#8217;t used it for years so of course I said I would take it. It needed a good sanding and resealing. I wasn&#8217;t sure if I wanted to re-stain the table or paint it. I was so excited when I came across a company called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chalkworthy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chalkworthy<\/a>. How cute is the packaging? The kit comes with everything you need to refinish a piece. Sand paper, paint, brushes, wax, it&#8217;s all in the box! I chose a color called cottage. It&#8217;s a bluish, green and a great pop of color in our family room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/our-family-rooms-coffee-table-makeover\/img_6575copy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5270\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5270 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_6575copy.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6575copy\" width=\"630\" height=\"945\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/945;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I did water down the paint slightly.\u00a0 It&#8217;s super thick and a little goes a long way.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/our-family-rooms-coffee-table-makeover\/img_6650copy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5272\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5272 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_6650copy.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6650copy\" width=\"630\" height=\"945\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/945;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I did sand the table lightly with the sand paper provided. Here is the table after the first coat. Don&#8217;t worry about getting it perfect. The second coat covers all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/our-family-rooms-coffee-table-makeover\/img_6656copy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5274\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5274 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_6656copy.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6656copy\" width=\"630\" height=\"945\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 630px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 630\/945;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the first coat dried, about an hour or so, I applied the second coat. I let the second coat dry overnight. I did decide to take some sand paper to the edges of the table to distress it a bit. The coffee table already has its dents and scratches from years of use so distressing the edges worked along with that and doesn&#8217;t make it look as thought I&#8217;m trying to hid all of it. I like the character it adds to the room. I then applied the wax which went on great. I haven&#8217;t always loved furniture wax in the past. This is one I actually really like. I couldn&#8217;t be happier with the quality of the paint. I really can&#8217;t wait to pick out another color to use. There&#8217;s a lot of chalk paint brands out there. What I love about<a href=\"http:\/\/chalkworthy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Chalkworthy<\/a> is that they ship everything you need to refinish a piece of furniture in one box, as a set. It&#8217;s such easy and affordable option. We had a busy but fun Easter day with family. The weekend flew by. I don&#8217;t know about you but I&#8217;m looking forward to some rest this week.
