Wow, what a couple of months it’s been here at the new house! Our house is changing everyday. Some changes are small and some, not so small. With a million projects going on at any given time, I always knew that our son’s room needed to be on the top of that list. The fact that he’s only three really pushed me to complete his room. I wanted him to have some sort or familiar space. Parents of small kids know when life gets hectic and uprooted your toddler’s mood can go right out the window!<\/p>\n

Charlie’s room was one of the most labor intensive rooms in the house. With layers of wallpaper and old carpet, the whole room was practically gutted.\u00a0 Here’s the room before we got to work.<\/p>\n

It took several weeks and some tears but all the wallpaper was striped and the carpet removed. Here’s Charlie’s room now!<\/p>\n

One of the best and most necessary things we did in Charlie’s room and to the entire upstairs was remove all the carpet and replace it with engineered hardwood floors from Floor & Decor<\/a>. If you have never visited Floor and Decor in the past, you’re really missing out on the biggest selection of flooring I’ve ever seen! Their prices are the best we’ve found on hardwoods, tile, back splash, etc. We shop there any time we need flooring or tile.<\/p>\n

\"Charlie's<\/a><\/p>\n

We chose an engineered hardwood. They’re an espresso birch. I love this particular stain because of the warmth it gives to Charlie’s room, especially paired with the gray on the walls. The hand scrapped feature has added great texture to the space as well. I’ve shared with you all why I really love the engineered hardwood floors in the past but I’ve had many questions from family and friends. Here are a couple things that make them so awesome.<\/p>\n

The first is that they’re super affordable! They’re not as cheap as laminate but not as expensive as solid hardwoods. Because of their budget friendly price, we didn’t feel like we were blowing the budget just with flooring.<\/p>\n

Secondly, they’re very durable and tend to be more scratch and dent resistant compared to solid hardwood floors.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, the installation was a breeze! My husband and father-in-law did most of the install. We nailed down the perimeter of the upstairs and floated the rest. There are a couple different methods to installing them. All are fairly easy. If you’re new to DIY you may have to seek out some help from someone you know who has installed hardwood floors before. If you don’t have anyone to install them, here<\/a> are some great tips that Floor & Decor has on choosing the right contractor.<\/p>\n

We finished the flooring over a month ago and they look great! We really couldn’t be any happier with them. I noticed that noise has been at a minimum, which makes me want to do a happy dance. With an active toddler running around it’s nice to have a flooring that absorbs some of that noise. We went from old, gross carpet to fresh, beautiful wood floors!<\/p>\n

Charlie is over the moon with his new room! He tells us often how much he loves it. This place is shaping up to be a great home for us. We’ve got a million projects going on in other parts of the house currently, one being Charlie’s bathroom. I can’t wait to share the tile we chose with you and of course it’s from one of our favorite places- Floor & Decor<\/a>. It’s going to make you want to rip out those old floors and get to work on your own home!<\/p>\n
