It’s funny how some of the simplest projects can bring some of the most impact. Our front door was a great front door. It just needed some love and paint. Our weather here in Georgia has been a little crazy for this time of year. The warm weather allowed me to get out the paint brush and get to work. I knew right away what color I wanted to paint it. It had to be red! Not only are red front doors classic and fit the colonial style, they are also known as a symbol of welcome. Back in the colonial times people would paint their front doors red to show weary travelers that they were welcome to stop by for a meal and a quick rest. There’s nothing I want more for this house than it to be a place where friends and family can gather. I want my guest to always feel welcomed! <\/p>\n

When it came time to pick the brand of paint my mind immediately jumped to a company called Modern Masters<\/a>. I had the privilege to meet them and become acquainted with their paint line at the Haven conference that I attended in Atlanta this summer. Their paint line is amazing folks! Not only do they have several special finish paints but they make a no fade front door paint. No fade, sounds good to me! The sun and the weather in general can give your front door a beating. I wanted a paint that would be durable. It was a hard choice picking a color from their line, so many beautiful colors to choose from. I did, however stick to my initial plan and went with a color called Sophisticated. It’s the perfect red \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The door before was doing nothing for the house. It was washed out and really looked worn and sad.<\/p>\n

First thing I did was I cleaned the door extensively. No more dirt or grim! Second, tape off your door knob, lock and hinges. You can remove them if you choose.<\/p>\n

If your door is already painted, simply sand the door and wipe clean. If your door has not been painted make sure to use a good quality primer first.<\/p>\n

Start by painting all the little grooves and edges. Once those hard to reach areas are done, you’re free to finish up the flat areas. I applied two coats, waiting two hours in between both. You may need to apply a third coat depending on the color you choose.<\/p>\n

A cheap tip- Put your paint brush in a sandwich baggie in between coats to keep it from drying out. Saves time and brushes!<\/p>\n

What I love about this paint is that it’s thick! It covers great and doesn’t leave those ugly brush strokes. Not only did the door turn out perfect, I still have over 3\/4th of my paint left to use somewhere else.<\/p>\n

I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. It was such a simple and quick project that made such a big difference to the curb appeal of the house. I can’t say enough about Modern Master’s paint. It’s by far my favorite exterior paint I’ve ever used! I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on how the door fairs over time. I expect good things. No own to those faded shutters \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
