Let me just say, I’m pretty sure paint is the cheapest cure to most ugly problems when it comes to the home. It has the power to transform a space almost instantly. It’s also one of the cheapest ways to update a space. The progress on our Breeze Hill Colonial is coming right along and paint has been a huge part of the process. Many rooms have been transformed with just some simple cleaning and a coat of fresh paint.<\/p>\n

We painted all the trim white and the walls in a calm grey called Moonshine by Benjamin Moore.<\/p>\n

Not only is the paint an important part but the tools you use to paint are just as important! I wanted to share a couple of my favorite painting tools with you all today. I have painted a lot of trim and walls in the last 10-15 years. When I was just 11, I painted all the trim in my childhood home and have been painting ever since!<\/p>\n

I have used several different brands of brushes and rollers. There’s the brushes that shed all their bristles as you paint and those that leave streaks… not fun! When it comes to painting tools, Purdy is by far my favorite! One of my favorite brushes from Purdy<\/a> are their Clearcut brushes for cutting-in.<\/p>\n

\"Fresh<\/a><\/p>\n

We have to paint all the trim in the house and have slowly been going room to room. The 3″ brush<\/a> is great for baseboards.<\/p>\n

\"Fresh<\/a><\/p>\n

I use the 1.5″ brush<\/a> for around windows, doors and crown molding.<\/p>\n

\"Fresh<\/a><\/p>\n

The Clearcut brushes are angled for easy cutting in. They’re truly my favorite brushes I’ve ever used! Always make sure to clean your brushes right after use. For water based paints just use soap and water, for oil based paints make sure to use a paint thinner when cleaning. Here’s a trick for you- those little boxes that come on the paint brushes when you buy them, store the brush back in the box after it dries. It helps the brush to keep it’s shape!<\/p>\n

\"Fresh<\/a><\/p>\n

Once all the cutting in is finished, I roll the walls using a large 18″ roller<\/a> and Purdy’s 5-gallon paint bucket<\/a>. Using their larger roller allows the painting process to move so much faster. It is one of my favorite painting tools and I’ll always recommend it, especially if you have a lot of wall space to cover.<\/p>\n

We still have a lot of painting left to go but because we’re using great quality tools, it cuts down on our work time. We managed to paint the entryway and living room in one afternoon and it looks absolutely amazing. The fresh paint gives the walls new life and creates a brighter, cleaner space.
