I know what you&#8217;re probably thinking, <em>not another eager Christmas fanatic trying to skip over Thanksgiving. <\/em>I assure you, minimizing Thanksgiving for the sake of rushing in Christmas is the last thing I want to do. A large purpose of writing this blog, decorating and creating is to inspire you, my readers. An important part of inspiring you in your homes is to make sure I&#8217;m timely with my posts. In order for me to share decor ideas and DIY projects with you and with enough time for you to actually make and implement some of the ideas you see here, I&#8217;ve got to start early. So just know if you see Christmas photos on my Instagram, Twitter or Facebook I know it&#8217;s early and I&#8217;m just excited about what&#8217;s to come this holiday season. Some things are just too fun not to share with you guys!<\/p>\n<p>In between putting away the fall decor and pulling out the Christmas, I found time to finally repaint my entry way bench. It has been on my to-do list for months. I can&#8217;t tell you how good it felt to finally get that sucker painted. If you followed my blog last year you may remember the bench when I first got it. We bought it at Goodwill for $9. It&#8217;s solid pine and had the 90&#8217;s-00&#8217;s look going on, white legs, stained top. You know the look. I must admit I still have kitchen chairs that are rocking that look. They&#8217;re another project for another day. When I got the bench I sanded it down and painted it with <a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/make-your-own-chalk-paint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chalk paint<\/a> in a color called Dolphin Fin. It was a lovely color until my toddler got a hold of a pen and colored all over the top of it, not to mention the grime that accumulated over time. I secretly had been dying to paint a furniture piece green. I just wasn&#8217;t sure which piece of furniture I was going to be brave enough to try it on. A large part of why I had green envy was because of Madi, my amazing contributor. You can check out her green kitchen cabinets &amp; counter top makeover <a href=\"http:\/\/thetaleofanuglyhouse.com\/diy-faux-concrete-countertops\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. You might just get green fever yourself! Because the bench doesn&#8217;t have much surface space and is super easy to paint, it was the winner! The paint that I chose was <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1Y0YMBK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moss Green<\/a> by Rust-Oleum in satin. After sanding the bench with 120 grit sand paper, I cleaned it really well and gave it two even coats. I let it dry the rest of the day and over night and applied a coat of polyacrylic. FYI if you don&#8217;t own one of <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1Y10mDx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rust-Oleum&#8217;s spray grip handle<\/a> you need one today! I&#8217;m not being paid to say that, it&#8217;s really one of my most used paint tools. I&#8217;m so glad I got up the courage to go with my gut. I&#8217;ve never been one for all neutrals. I need color in my life. The green paint gives the entry way such a fun personality!
