It’s December! Our home always feels so magical in the month of December. The twinkling lights, garlands and sparkling glass ornaments make things extra special. Today, I wanted to share a Christmas home tour of the spaces that I have completely thus far. I hope that it will serve as inspiration as you decorate your own home this season. With a 1 year old running around, I haven’t had as much time this year to dedicate to the decorating process, so I kept things fairly simple. I didn’t go all out as I have in past years but I’m discovering that I actually prefer less. Take a peek around! I hope you love it as much as we do. <\/p>\n

A few years ago I found this garland at a local antique store. I had always used real garland in the foyer in years past, but loved the look of this. Each year I simple change of the ribbon and I add different stems or ornaments to it. This time I’ve worked in some sparkling star garland<\/em><\/a> and some faux pomegranates that I purchased years ago. Some double layered velvet ribbon is the icing on the cake. <\/p>\n

In our living room I usually use a larger, fuller tree, but this year I decided to use our smaller noble fir <\/em><\/a>in a vintage style pot<\/a>. <\/em>I ordered this tree several years ago and opted to put lights on it myself. If you have the time to do so, it’s great. The tree always looks so much brighter when you’re able to install your own lights. To use a pot as a tree stand, we purchased a large block of dense green floral foam from Hobby Lobby and I filled the loose spaces around the sides with a few kitchen hand towels. It works like a charm! <\/p>\n

The draping garland is also faux and was purchased from Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago. Sadly, they quickly sold out. At $23 I will definitely be purchasing more next year. Again, I added more star garland and velvet ribbon. <\/p>\n

\"\"Some faux greenery stems hide the 3M hooks that hold our stockings and add some texture to the mantel. <\/p>\n

I’m using the same linens from the fall season. I love pillows and throws that can do double duty. Nice covers are not cheap, so I want to get as much use out of them as possible. <\/p>\n

This room is on the north facing side of our home and is always extra cozy with the warm glow of a Christmas tree. I usually love to take my photos of this room once I’ve had the chance to wrap a few gifts. Presents with pretty papers and ribbon always add to the magic, but this year we can’t seem to keep our little one from trying to open them. She’s very persistent. If you have any suggestions on that, please feel free to share! We’ve considered using a baby gate around the tree but haven’t as of yet. <\/p>\n

I didn’t do a large tree in the dining room this year. Instead, I found that it was the perfect room for my tabletop tree. My DIY pinecone garland<\/em><\/a> also found a home in this room and received some new ribbon!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This mini tree is covered in black & white family photos, antique German glass ornaments and German candle holders. I don’t light these candles, but I do love the way they look. This tree is one of my absolute favorite trees in our home. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Our den is extra cozy with the addition of a Christmas tree. When I mentioned not putting the tree up in this room, Josh and Charlie quickly protested. They were right. I’m glad we did it because now we get to enjoy those warm lights during family movie nights.<\/p>\n

Again, I didn’t change the linens in this room. I simply added a plaid throw and two small mistletoe pillows that I purchased from Target two years ago. A Christmas candle and a little greenery is all this room needed to feel festive. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I hope to share the kitchen and kid’s trees very soon. With a baby running around it’s a little more difficult to get things “photo” ready. There always seems to be random things in random places. Those of you children and grand children know just want I mean. I hope you enjoyed the small peek into our home this Christmas and I hope to see you back here in a couple of days.
