After a couple weeks of glorious sunshine and warmer temperatures, gray skies and rain have moved in to North Ga. To my surprise the sun decided to peek through just enough for me to snap a few photos of our new breakfast nook table yesterday. While it’s actually an antique I found on the FB yard sale page, it’s new to us! I thought it would be fun to throw together a quick and easy spring table to enjoy coffee with a friend.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This table has the size and shape that I had been hunting for a number of years. It included four leaves to allow for 10 guests to sit comfortably. The patina and condition of the wood were perfect, and while it was a little more than I was looking to pay, I just couldn’t pass it up.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

With the little bit of sunshine that we had, I threw together a quick spring table idea. Tulips are one of my favorite spring flowers. I’ve done many arrangements with them in the past, including my blooming nest arrangement. I’m a big fan of real blooms and greenery but a couple of years ago I came across some faux tulips<\/a> that looked and even felt so realistic.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I have been so impressed with these faux tulips<\/a>. They’ve held up beautifully and are so easy to throw together each spring. I’ve used them along with other real and faux stems over the years. For this centerpiece, I used 42 tulips and 5 faux wispy spring springs from Hobby Lobby, all loosely placed in a vintage Nantucket basket.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I used my Blue Willow Churchill teacups from England. They’re one of my favorite sets to use for tea and coffee in the spring and summer months and the natural colored linen napkins keep the colors simple.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Our pillow covers typically get swapped out with the season changes. I brought in our blue and white gingham covers that I made to use with the upholstered chairs. Our breakfast nook has many touches of blue, so this pillows fit in perfectly.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Biscotti or many other coffee treats can be stored in my new\/antique ironstone biscuit jar. It was love at first site with that floral cannister. I just love the rattan handle! Using practical pieces on your seasonal tables is the way to go. You can find so many beautiful serving pieces for you table at antique stores and thrift stores. These pieces also serve as d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This sweet duck in a basket is now holding our sugar. I found him at an antique store recently for just a couple of dollars. While, he’s just ceramic, he fits in with our ironstone pieces beautifully.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Things To Note For An Easy Spring Table<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. Use what you already have on hand. We can make things so much more stressful on ourselves sometimes. A pretty table doesn’t have to take a hit on our wallets. Look around your home. I bet you have everything you need already!<\/li>\r\n
  2. Use a mix of faux and real greenery and florals. To things budget-friendly, I love to use a few faux blooms that I can use time and time again, in combination with a few real stems from my yard, like my fall arrangement<\/a> from last year. It gives the entire arrangement a realistic look.<\/li>\r\n
  3. Lastly, keep things simple. Less is more in most cases. Coco Chanel once said, “Simplicity is the keynote to all true elegance.”<\/em> Use items that serve double-duty.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    I’m still searching for the perfect rug for this space. I’m sure I’ll find one in time. Much of our home has come together over months and years, layer by layer. It’s the best way to decorate, in my opinion. If you’re expecting a friend for coffee or tea this spring, I hope this quick table setting inspired you. It really doesn’t take much to create an unexpected and inviting table.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
