Pom pom garland is such a fun and inexpensive decor for the holiday season. I’m excited to share my easy tutorial today, so you can make your own this Christmas season! <\/i><\/h3>\n

I can’t believe it’s that time of the year again! It’s officially my favorite month, November, and I’ve been in crafting bliss this week. Today I’m going to share how to make Pom Pom garland for your home this holiday season. I’ve also joined several blogging buddies to bring you 22 fun DIY decor projects that I hope you’ll love!<\/p>\n

Homemade pom poms are not only cute as garland but also as a wreath and used with your gift wrapping. They’re very simple and quick to make. I recruited Charlie to help me with these, so this is a great project for the little ones! <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

For this garland I used 5 skeins of this yarn<\/a><\/strong> in ivory. A thicker yarn will yield a the fluffier pom pom.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Make The Pom Poms <\/h4>\n

To make the pom poms we used a piece of cardboard that was  4″ wide. Wrap the yarn around the cardboard until it’s about an inch thick on each side of the cardboard. The size of your pom pom will depend on how small or large your cardboard is and how many times you wrap it around. The more yarn you use the thicker your pom poms will be and you want a think, fluffy pom pom! <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Once you have enough yarn wrapped around the cardboard, carefully slide it off and very tightly tie a 12″ piece of yard around the center of the pom pom. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next, use a pair of sharp scissors and cut the loops on each side. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You’ll want to give your pom pom a haircut. Trim all of the strands until they’re nice and even. You might be surprised at how much you’ll cut off to get it just right. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Lastly, cut a piece of yarn the length that you want your garland to be. Tie the yarn tightly around each pom pom, spacing about 5″ apart.  <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Hang your garland on the tree, on a mantel or on a shelf as I have done in my office! <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This pom pom garland found the perfect spot over my wrapping station. I even set a couple of pom poms aside to use in my gift wrapping as well. They’re such a cute addition to your gifts. <\/p>\n

If you’re not quite ready to decorate for the holidays this is a great project to make now and set aside for later. I don’t know about you, but this year I’m feeling all of the holiday decor and twinkle even more than normal.
