We created a festive, yet simple fall porch using mums, pumpkins and some homemade floating apple candles. It looks extra magical at dusk! <\/i><\/h3>\n

How is it that we’re already half way through October? This time of the year always flies by and I’m desperately trying to hold onto every second of it. The weather here in north Georgia is finally feeling like fall and I thought it would be a great time to share our fall porch. We decorated it a little later this year than we usually do. I just couldn’t bring myself to think fall with warm summer-like temps outside. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve slowly picked up a few mums and pumpkins to dress up our front entry way. I also recreated our floating apple candles again this year!<\/p>\n

I’m going to share a few items that will give your front entry a festive and welcoming feel and because I think that dusk is the most magical time for our fall porch, I decided to take these photos just as the sun was starting to set. It gives you a little idea of what our view is each evening. <\/p>\n

A Full Festive Wreath<\/h4>\n

Finding larger, full fall wreaths that have an organic color to them can be challenging. I lucked up and found this one a year or two ago at Homegoods. It looks like a much more expensive wreath that Williams Sonoma sells. I love the natural, moody colors against our black door. <\/p>\n

We didn’t line our steps with mums or pumpkins, just a few around the doorway was perfect. I like to use less, larger mums for impact. <\/p>\n

I chose shades of orange, yellow and creams. The natural colors of autumn have always been my favorite and it just wouldn’t feel like fall without them. <\/p>\n

Floating Apple Candles <\/h4>\n

A couple of years ago I shared our floating apple candles<\/a>. This year I decided to make them again. They’re such an easy way to add a little twinkle and charm to your outdoor spaces this fall. I like to make them if we’re expecting guests. It’s a festive way to greet friends and family. You can use a round biscuit or cookie cutter to cut out the top of the apple to place a small tea light candle inside. <\/p>\n

I love the way natural candle light looks but you can always opt for battery powdered candles instead. We prefer to use battery powered candles in our carved pumpkins we make closer to Halloween. It’s nice to be able to turn them on and walk way. <\/p>\n

We also recycled our tin lanterns and are using them again this year. I love using these on the back porch as well. Each one has a unique design punched in them. If you’re interested there are tutorials I’ve seen online to make similar lanterns and candle holders. Just search DIY punched tin lanterns on Pinterest<\/a>. <\/p>\n

With more time at home lately, I felt that it was important to make the seasons extra special this year. We have enjoyed it so much thus far. Nothing welcomes you home quite like a porch full of mums and pumpkins! <\/p>\n
