This autumn floral arrangement is a mix of faux and real stems. The mix of muted and vibrant tones make for a beautiful centerpiece for any fall table!<\/i><\/h3>\n

Autumn floral arrangements just might be my absolute favorite. I gravitate towards warm tones, especially this time of the year and this fall arrangement incapsulates all of those warm colors that I love so much. Today I’ve joined a few blogging friends to share our fall floral centerpieces with you all. Floral arrangements are such a great way to decorate for the seasons and they can really add a special touch to your table. <\/p>\n

As many of you know, I typically prefer real flowers over faux. But this time I decided to really challenge myself and create an arrangement that is 90% faux. I really had a ton of fun creating this autumn floral arrangement and I’m so pleased that it will last much longer than just a week or two. It came out just as I had hoped and the pop of color has been such a great addition to our breakfast nook. <\/p>\n

Collect Your Stems<\/h4>\n

Picking A Color Scheme<\/h5>\n

When choosing colors, I like to stick with three to four shades of the same color with addition of greenery. For this arrangement I chose cream roses, pale orange\/peach mums, orange and dark maroon leaves. The colors start light and gradually get darker. This really creates a cohesive look.<\/p>\n

Choosing Your Stems<\/h5>\n

This arrangement is a mix of vibrant and muted creams, greens and oranges. I used natural items such as, English ivy clippings, preserved leaves and hydrangea blooms with addition to faux pears, roses, berries and mums. Personally, I like the mix of real and faux. The real stems really create a natural look and feel, giving the appearance that the entire arrangement is live. And just as you vary colors, vary the sizes of your blooms and stems as well. <\/p>\n

When picking faux stems, choose good quality ones. Stay away from flowers that are made of thin fabrics. You can easily tell that a flower is fake when you can see the fabric grain. It’s a dead giveaway. Spend a little more and get the better stems because you’ll be able to use them again and again. I purchased all of the faux stems that you see here from Joann Fabrics. <\/p>\n

Creating Your Arrangement <\/h4>\n

Choosing A Vessel<\/h5>\n

Start by choosing your vessel. Depending on how tall or short you want your arrangement will largely depend on what size vessel you choose. With this one I used a medium sized antique ironstone planter. I knew that I wanted to use a small cake stand as a pedestal for my arrangement and that my stems would be on the shorter side.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Normally I use floral tape to make a grid pattern on top of my vessel. In this case I couldn’t find my floral tape so I opted for scotch tape instead, ha! It worked just fine. Creating a grid out of tape will help your stems stay right where you want them. If this arrangement was completely real I would just feel my planter with water, but since I was also using faux, I just filled a small glass in the center with water to stick my real stems into. <\/p>\n

Arranging <\/h5>\n

I started with the “filler” greenery. I placed the ivy clippings around the base and the 3 hydrangea blooms evenly throughout the center. I followed up with 4 large faux rose blooms. You want to create the bulk of your arrangement first, ending with the smaller stems and blooms. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next, I added the light orange mums. I cut them slightly longer than the hydrangeas and roses. I used about 9 or 10 mum stems in total, spacing them evenly throughout. The berry sprigs were next and I cut those to be even taller, giving the arrangement a whimsical look. I used 7 or 8 berry sprigs. <\/p>\n

Lastly, I added the faux pears and preserved leaves. For the pears I simply used a skewer to hold them up in the arrangement. I sprinkled the leaves lightly throughout, focusing mainly around the base. I did use a few smaller leaves throughout the middle. <\/p>\n

This arrangement took me about 30 minutes to complete. The more I do arrangements the quicker I seem to get. It’s okay to walk away and take a break if it’s not going the way you’d hope. Sometimes all you need is to look at it with fresh eyes. <\/p>\n

A good floral arrangement can be used not just on your dining room table but in an entry way, on a coffee table and mantel. They’re very versatile. I’ve used them to decorate throughout our home. <\/p>\n

Natural fall colors will always be my favorite. It’s one of the only times of the year that I bring reds and oranges into our home’s decor. I love the coziness and warmth that it adds.
