Are you ready for fall? I couldn’t be more ready! Here are just a few ideas that I’ve gathered for simple fall decorating and baking in your home this season. <\/em><\/h3>\n

It’s official, friends. Labor Day has come and gone and it’s now all about fall! Labor Day has always felt like a natural end to summer and a beginning to the fall season. It’s still very warm here and while pumpkins won’t be making there way to our home just yet, I’ve begun to think about what has me inspired and what I’m looking forward to trying this fall. I’m really looking forward to cooler days when there’s a crisp in the air, to delicious comfort foods and warm tones indoors and outdoors. <\/p>\n

For the past two weeks I’ve been in the kitchen, tireless refinishing our butcher block countertops and paining the cabinets. I shared a little about the project and its hold ups a on IG recently. What should have taken just over a week, took over two weeks to complete. I’m dying to share the whole makeover with you. I’m currently waiting on hardware that is on backorder. In my down time I’ve been pouring over fall ideas and recipes and it has left me feeling so inspired! Here’s just a few things that I’m loving this year. <\/p>\n

Vintage Martha Stewart Living magazines are my absolute favorite magazines to flip back through for inspiration. This one issue in particular, from 1999, caught my eye. Everyone is gathered outside a stone colonial for a pumpkin carving party. In years past we’ve always carved pumpkins with friends and family, so I loved this outdoor set up. Not only is the whole scene beautiful but I also really like the non-traditional pumpkin carving\/decorating ideas below. <\/p>\n

I’ve always gravitated towards traditional colors in Autumn. The yellows, reds and golds are all warm and inviting. I’d love to make or find a really good quality leaf wreath. So many of the ones I’ve found in the stores do not resemble real leaves at all. I love the colors and textures of this wreath especially. The apples are such a great touch! You can see my most recent fall wreath that I made here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m feeling the oranges and yellows this year for our front porch. In past years I’ve used fantasy pumpkins in cream, pale green and soft orange. This year I think I’m going to stick with carving pumpkins and small boo pumpkins in orange and white. I also found the small pie pumpkins to be so charming placed above the windows and entry way. I might have to replicate that in some way. <\/p>\n

Our porch from a couple of years ago featured floating apple candles. I plan on doing this again this year. It’s a fun touch for your porch or patio when you’re having family or friends over. <\/p>\n

We plan on sticking with similar foliage inside this year as I used last year. I love using natural stems when I can because they’re so timeless. I don’t know about you, but I never seem to get tired of the real colors and textures of fall. <\/p>\n

Oh fall recipes, I love you! I never love to cook and bake as much as I do in the fall. It’s all just comfort food to me. I love a good soup, so I’ll be making a fair share of soups this season, as I do every fall. Below is our all time favorite tomato and basil soup recipe. It’s a must-make in our home. <\/p>\n

I love the idea of mini pies for a picnic lunch. The flannel scrapes used to attach the forks is genius! I’ll have to try my hand at something similar this fall. I think we’ll be enjoying many outdoor meals.<\/p>\n

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love cobbler. I’ve never made pumpkin cobbler. When I came across this recipe on Pinterest I had to put it at the top of my list for October. I can’t wait! I’ll be sure to share my thoughts on it. <\/p>\n

Charlie informed me recently that he’s never had a caramel apple. How he has made it almost 8 years without one is unknown to me! We’re going to remedy that this fall. I’m thinking we’ll start with a classic recipe and possibly roll some in chopped nuts or candies. These would be great neighbor\/teacher gift, wrapped in a clear goodie bag and tired with ribbon. You can’t go through fall without at least one caramel apple! <\/p>\n

Last, but not least, I came across these cute bat candy holders while looking for goodie bag ideas. Charlie loves to make up little candy bags for his friends for Halloween each year, so I think these would be easy enough and fun to make. You don’t have to tear into them to access the candy, so kids can be reuse them all season for other things. <\/p>\n
