Fall has arrived and I’ve got 3 easy ways to give your space an autumn feel. Here’s how I created a simple fall hutch effortlessly.<\/em><\/h3>\n

My favorite month of the year has finally begun. October has always felt like such a cozy month. It’s fitting that we start the month with our cozy living series hosted by my friend Jennifer from Town and Country Living<\/a>. Today I wanted to share how I used some basic things to create a fall hutch.<\/p>\n

One thing I love about the changes of the seasons is that its a great opportunity to switch things up in my decor. The changes don’t have to be drastic. Simply rearranging  or adding some seasonal touches really gives everything a fresh feel.<\/p>\n

Early this past summer I came across this Irish hutch on the FB yard sale page. When I read that it was free and sitting outside for the first person who arrived to pick it up I high tailed it over there and by some miracle was able to load it solo. It’s one of my favorite things in my home and you can read more about it here<\/a><\/strong>. Since I’ve owned it the arrangement of the things had not changed. There’s certainly nothing wrong with leaving well enough alone but with the arrival of the fall season I really just wanted a change. <\/p>\n

After some simple rearranging and fall touches – <\/p>\n

I don’t think one is necessarily better than the other. They’re both different and I feel as though the simple plate arrangement that I have now works well the typically craziness of the soon to be holiday season. When things get busy there’s just something comforting about simplistic design. <\/p>\n

The extra pieces there were on display before are now being stored below and to bring a little autumn and a little color to the hutch I added just two things, fantasy pumpkins and some fall foliage. In just three steps our hutch has a fresh look and is sporting some fall color. <\/p>\n

I moved two vintage prints from the family room shelf to the hutch. It adds a bit more color and gives the hutch a nice layered look.  <\/p>\n

The brightly colored fall leaves really pop against the white dishes. Picking stems that work with your dishes is a great way to get things cohesive yet add a pop of color at the same time. <\/p>\n

Sometimes doing the most simple things makes the most difference in a space. I hesitated to share this today because I wasn’t sure that this basic rearrangement called for a post but I thought it was worth sharing that you don’t have to do something drastic or expensive to give a space a whole new feel. That also goes for decorating seasonally. You can add seasonal and holiday touches with basic, natural items. Keeping things simple allows each piece to really shine. <\/p>\n
