With the summer heat upon us this DIY tabletop burner for s’mores is perfect for those summer evenings making s’mores without the heat of a fire pit! Grab your marshmallows and come on over!<\/em><\/h3>\n

One of my family’s favorite things to do from April through October is spend the evenings on our back porch. We have a quaint little ally way that sits at the bottom of our hill with a retaining wall that has English ivy just barely come over the side. A couple of years ago we planted several hydrangeas and other plants. (Tomorrow I’ll be sharing our full porch.) With all of that said, It’s one of my favorite places to be this time of the year.<\/p>\n

One thing we enjoy most is firing up the fire pit and making s’mores. This year has been a bit different. We’ve been going through quite the heat wave, with each day in the mid 90’s. It’s about 15 degrees above average for us this time of the year and it had me looking for alternative ways to roast those marshmallows we love so much.<\/p>\n

I’m thrilled that my friend Krista from The Happy Housie<\/a> is hosting this hop because I think it’s the perfect time to share what I came up with. I’m also happy to report it’s worked perfectly! <\/p>\n

Our tabletop burner is just three basic items. I started with a terra cotta pot that I already had on hand. This particular pot came from Michaels I believe a couple of years ago but any kind of clay or concrete pot would work.<\/p>\n

Place a chafing burner in the center of the pot. Be sure to use a food safe burner. When I researched which burner to use I found that ethanol is the only food safe burner, however you never want to place your food into the flame. Also hold your marshmallows above it. Here are the burners<\/a><\/strong> we use.<\/p>\n

I then poured decorative rocks around the burner making sure not to go any higher than the burner. You can purchase river rocks from craft stores but I found it to be most cost effective to purchase from our local hardware store, Lowes.<\/p>\n

I’ve found that my Willow tray<\/a><\/strong> works great when it comes to holding all of our s’more supplies.<\/p>\n

The burners will get hot. Always make sure to stay several inches away and keep anything flammable from touching the can. I always use a stone cutting board under our pot just in case even though the pot doesn’t really got warm underneath. The rocks seem to do a great job keeping it cool.<\/p>\n

Charlie has especially enjoyed it. There’s almost no wait time for the it to get hot enough to roast our marshmallows and clean up is a breeze! You just place the top back onto the top and that’s that!<\/p>\n

These would be perfect for not only everyday use but for all of those summer parties too! You could line several up along a table so that everyone has a burner in reach. They’re really affordable and they assemble in minutes! Our tabletop roaster has been the perfect addition to our summer porch.
