This DIY Christmas gingerbread cookie wreath is extremely simple and so much fun to make. Gather the family in the kitchen and have fun baking up this yummy & pretty holiday treat!\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/h2>\n

Can you believe it’s almost that time of the year again? The holidays are here and I couldn’t be happier! Our home is slowly going from fall decor to Christmas. Although, we don’t have our tree up quite yet, I have started to incorporate small festive touches in our home. One place I always like to start is in the kitchen. It’s such a natural place to add seasonal items, such as baked goods and fresh greenery. This year my family and I got a craving for gingerbread cookies a little early. I took the left over cookies and decided to make a fun wreath to hang over our baking station in our kitchen. Today I’m joining a few blogging friends of mine including our host, Krista from The Happy Housie<\/a> and I thought today would be a perfect time to share how I put it together!<\/p>\n

You can use your favorite gingerbread cookie recipe for this wreath. I’ve included my family’s favorite recipe below if you need one. I used snow flakes and a star cutters and decorated the cookies with traditional royal icing and let them sit until the icing was set.<\/p>\n

I purchased a 12″ wooden wreath form from Michael’s craft store for under $3. You could certainly make a ring from gingerbread but I thought this would be easier.<\/p>\n

I started by arranging the larger cookies on the wreath form to get the best placement.<\/p>\n

I then took hot glue and glued each cookie onto the wreath. You could also use royal icing for this part. I just thought the hot glue would have a little more strength. Since were not planning on eating these later I figured better safe than sorry.<\/p>\n

Next, add the smaller cookies to fill in the gaps and to add some depth. I attached those using hot glue as well.<\/p>\n

Tie some ribbon around the top and it’s ready to hang. We used basic push pins to secure it from the bottom of the cabinets.<\/p>\n
