A classic Star Wars bedroom makeover that is timeless and will grow with your little one.\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n

This day has seemed so long in the making. I started this project of giving Charlie’s room a refresh back in April. I was challenged to create a bedroom that said Star Wars, yet had a classic a timeless feel. I never would have thought it would take me so long to complete but yet here we are in July. I’m so relieved to say that it’s finally finished and I just adore the outcome! I wanted to take a second to look back at this space two years ago when we purchased our home. This room required a lot of sweat equity. I don’t think I’ve ever shed tears while removing wallpaper before until I met this room. In the end we had to skim coat all the sheet rock in the room due to damage.<\/p>\n

We installed a simple board and batten on the far wall. It took me back to years ago before Charlie was born, Josh and I installed board and batten around his entire nursery in our previous home. It reminds me of the sweet times spend in that home. You can read all about the gingham wallpaper we used and how we applied it here<\/a>. The walls are painted Oxford White in satin by Sherwin Williams. The trim is painted in Pure White by Sherwin Williams.<\/p>\n

We added a comfy armchair to the room that I found for a whooping $25 on Craigslist. The chair was in amazing condition. I just purchased a new cover for it that’s machine washable. You can find that chair new here<\/a>. We read a few books most nights before bedtime and this chair has been the perfect spot for that.<\/p>\n

When we asked Charlie what he wanted in his new big boy room he simply requested Star Wars. I knew that I didn’t want to do a space that was overtaken by a theme. I think that subtle touches are best, especially with growing kids. I found these adorable Star Wars blue prints on Etsy and have linked each one at the bottom of the post for you. The prints were super affordable and we had them printed on card stock at our local Staples for less than $5.<\/p>\n

If you’re scratching your head and wondering where are all of the toys, games, etc. I’m happy to say that they’ve all been put into different bins and baskets and are stored on shelves in his closet. I’ll be sharing his organized closet someday soon.<\/p>\n

We hung an Ikea wine bottle holder on the wall above his costume basket to hold light sabers. It’s a fun little touch.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite things that we incorporated into Charlie’s room makeover was new bedding. Garnet Hill<\/a> has long been one of my favorite places to find bedding essentials. The quality of their bedding if fantastic. When I received this white and gray reversible quilt and sham<\/a> I was instantly in love. It’s super soft and is the perfect weight for these hot summers.<\/p>\n

We also got a ultra soft down throw<\/a> for the foot of the bed. I loved the fun chevron pattern and it couldn’t be more cozy! It also comes in comforter size. I’ve already added to my winter bedding must haves!<\/p>\n

Charlie previously had a clubhouse bed that we had built. You can see the building plans for that here. When we purchased the new bed we realized that he would need a nightstand. I searched around a bit but quickly realized that the ones I really liked weren’t necessarily affordable. I knew I could make what I wanted for way less. I used the nightstand that matches his dresser as inspiration. You can see that nightstand here<\/a>. It was my first build in over a year and I honestly loved getting back into the groove of wood working. I used mainly scrape wood we had on hand. It’s painted in Decorators White by Benjamin Moore. I also painted his existing dresser the same color to match. I had a few people message me after my IG stories yesterday requesting that I share the how-to for his nightstand. I hope to get that all together very soon for ya.<\/p>\n

We added a fun chalkboard wall behind his door with a cute little pail to hold chalk. He informed me that all those circles are TIE Fighters.<\/p>\n

His room has become such a fun place to spend time. It’s light and bright and full of life. It’s a space that we wanted him to be able to grow with. We saved some space on the wall with his bookshelves for a desk. We haven’t built one quite yet but we look forward to the time that he’ll be ready to use one. I wanted to make sure that the theme wasn’t over the top to ensure that there was room for new interests and hobbies down the road. I think we accomplished just want we set out too. Charlie couldn’t be happier in his new big boy room!<\/p>\n
