You guys know how much I love fresh flowers. I’ve written all about it here<\/a> and if you follow me on Instagram<\/a> you’ve seen just a few photos with some fresh blooms but I have a secret that I don’t think I’ve ever shared with you. I’m a plant killer, indoor plants at least. It’s sad but it’s true. I just can’t seem to keep them thriving or even alive for that matter. I’ve tried many times and one day I hope to get the confidence up again to give it another shot. For now I’m rocking the faux greenery. With spring right around the corner I’ve been added greenery here and there to give a little life to each room. I thought this month’s series of Cozy Living by my friend Jennifer from Town and Country Living<\/a> would be the perfect time to talk about ways to decorate with faux greenery.<\/p>\n

I’m not a huge fan of just any old faux plants, I’m pretty picky. I try to avoid most fabric made faux stems most of the time, only because they can appear very fake. I have found that the plastic\/more rubber like plants look more genuine.<\/p>\n

This little faux fern from Ikea<\/a> fits perfectly in an antique ironstone pot that I have. Ikea’s faux plants come in little black plastic pots but I like to place them in something else to dress them up a bit and give them a more realistic look. I tried my hand at a real maidenhair fern once and it made it almost two months. That thing was a diva. I have big respect for those of you that can keep them alive!<\/p>\n

Another great way to bring in faux plants is with quality blooms. One flower that doesn\u2019t realign grow well here in Georgia is the Lilac. It\u2019s a total shame because I adore them. I recently came across some really realistic looking lilac stems at Hobby Lobby and I knew I had to take them home. Ironically they are fabric flowers but I thought they looked pretty good! Placing them in a glass vase with water gives them a real look. When a flower that you really love isn\u2019t available in your area, fake it!<\/p>\n
