In reply to Sarah. Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for your kind comment. The marble floors are holding up beautifully! We went with a polish marble, so there has not been any water staining or any staining at all for that matter. Honed marble, can be a bit different. We also made sure to seal our floors well. We use a small bath mat when exiting the tub/shower, so we haven't had any issues with slipping so far. I would highly recommend a mat for any tile floors, especially polished tile. I hope that helps!

Hi Amanda…..not sure if you read comments on old posts…? But I am wondering how the marble floor has held up for you with baths and showers? Does the water leave stains, and is it slippery if you’re not careful? I love your house and design style and am drawing inspiration from it for our own Colonial home renos.

Although I don’t believe anything in interior design is timeless, your master bath is beautiful beyond belief. I love it. I had read that pocket doors can’t be retro fitted so how did your father in law manage to install it? Did they build a new wall? I love pocket doors. I have read they are dated but I don’t know how. When they are open they look like an entry way and when they are closed they look like a door. I prefer them to a barn door in nearly every instance except where a barn door really makes sense like a loft or a a converted barn. I would love to install a few pocket doors in our house if I knew how they could be retrofitted. I have so many instances where a swinging door just is in the way.
